On 18 December 2024, the high-level delegation of the Lao National Assembly, led by Politburo member and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, paid a visit to the Lac Hoa Wind Power Plant in Vinh Chau Town, Soc Trang Province.
The plant was honored to welcome distinguished guests, including Mr. Lam Van Man – Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Soc Trang Province National Assembly Delegation; Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao – Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council; and Mr. Tran Van Lau – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee. Also attending were Ms. Tran Thi Hong An – Standing Member of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, along with several members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and leaders of various departments, sectors, and businesses in the province.
During the visit, the delegation was provided with a comprehensive introduction to the plant’s development and operational process. The delegation also had the opportunity to directly observe Wind Turbine No. 02 and the project’s operation station, gaining deeper insights into the plant’s technology and operational procedures.
Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane expressed great interest and appreciation for the project’s role in supplying additional electricity to support socio-economic development, increasing provincial budget revenue, and promoting fast and sustainable development in Soc Trang. He also commended the project’s commitment to green, sustainable, and environmentally friendly standards, emphasizing that these are key criteria in the socio-economic development strategy of Laos.
The visit concluded in a warm and cooperative atmosphere. Chairman Xaysomphone Phomvihane expressed hope that this working trip would open up many opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, particularly in the fields of clean energy and sustainable development.
